Visit of Professor Delegation from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Indonesia

On November 23, a delegation of professors from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia, visited Okayama University. The delegation of six, led by Professor Iman Robandi as the Chairman and Professor Prabowo as the Secretary paid a courtesy visit to President NASU Yasutomo, accompanied by Vice President for International Affairs and Alumni SUZUKI Takayoshi and Assistant Professor SAMSUL Huda (Green Innovation Center). One of the delegation had previously spent six months studying Japanese language and culture at Okayama University, his thoughts went to the student life he had spent 20 years ago.

During the discussion, President Nasu explained Okayama University's mission to contribute to the co-creation of the desired future for the region and the world. He expressed his views, saying, 'In recent years, Indonesia's economic and population growth have been remarkable. While technology is constantly advancing and evolving day by day, education for the youth should consistently be of high quality.' They also discussed about enhancement of research collaboration, student exchange programs, and utilization of Indonesian government scholarship systems for Study in Japan. Expectations for the establishment of joint degree programs and double-degree programs were also expressed.

This courtesy visit was realized following a meeting between President Nasu, Vice President Suzuki, and Professor Iman during the 6th ASEAN+3 Presidents Forum held in Surabaya, Indonesia, in September this year. The visit fostered a friendly atmosphere, deepening the friendship and mutual understanding between the two universities. It is anticipated that the further research and student exchanges in the future.

A platform for executive-level discussions involving 30 universities from 10 ASEAN University Network (AUN) member countries and 21 universities from the Plus 3 countries (Japan, China, South Korea). The forum, held every two years, serves as a platform for learning and exchanging opinions on challenges related to future cooperation within ASEAN+3."
