Briefing Session on Japanese-language Education in Vietnam

“Briefing Session on Japanese-language Education in University of Dalat, Vietnam” was held on Tuesday, August 25.
Okayama University has Cooperation Agreement with University of Dalat. In order to conduct Japanese-language education to Vietnamese students, we have dispatched Assistant Professor of International Center, Keiko Katayama to Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Dalat since September 2008. During her temporary return to Japan, we held a briefing session for our faculty members, staff, and students, especially for those who are interested in Japanese-language education. Approximately 30 people including Executive Directors Koji Tanaka and Toyonobu Sato participated in this event.

In the session, she reported the growing popularity of Japanese, the present situation of Japanese-language education in Vietnam, etc with some episode of her daily life in Dalat. We also invited her counterpart, Mr. Nguyen Cao Luyen, Vietnamese teacher of Japanese. He gave us presentation on future challenge in Japanese-language education in University of Dalat and reported latest information on the necessity of development of human resources who understand Japanese language and the companies’ needs for such personnel resources.
Many questions by participants made the session active.

Okayama University continues to provide active support to University of Dalat regarding Japanese- language education. We wish to establish stronger cooperative relationship with them and contribute to strengthening of human resource development in Vietnam as well as University of Dalat.
