Fourteen students from Okayama University participated in the Japan University English Model United Nations (JUEMUN), held from June 27 to 29 at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. JUEMUN is an English-language Model United Nations conference hosted annually by universities in Japan, where participating students assume the roles of UN country delegates, engage in discussions on global issues in English, and work toward drafting and adopting resolutions. This year, two students served as chairs and twelve students participated as country delegates.
The conference theme was “Reimagining Global Tourism: Sustaining, Managing and Rebuilding for a Resilient Future.” Students engaged in active discussions in English on the future of inclusive and sustainable tourism. They also addressed issues such as tourism development, environmental protection, and disaster risk reduction, ultimately drafting resolutions that incorporated innovative approaches.
Participants had prepared extensively in the “English Diplomacy” course offered at Okayama University, enabling them to apply their international perspectives and practical English skills throughout the conference.
