Mr. AKADA Takuma (3rd-year of doctoral course, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) and Mr. CHOI Yu Cheol (4th-year, School of Engineering) presented their research at the joint workshop “Accelerating AI, Digital Twins, and Robotics with GPUs,” hosted by NVIDIA Student Ambassadors. The workshop was held on August 2 at Tokyo University of Technology’s Kamata Campus.
At the workshop, students from five universities participating in the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program presented cutting-edge research and development case studies related to AI, robotics, data science, and digital twins.
Mr. Akada presented a poster titled “GPGPU Acceleration of Kaggle Solutions Using RAPIDS.”
Mr. Choi gave a presentation in the AI session titled “Accelerating Fake News Classification with GPUs.”
Both presentations attracted many questions from participants, leading to active and meaningful discussions.
At the end of the workshop, all participating student presenters received official appointment certificates from NVIDIA, naming them as Student Ambassadors. Mr. Akada and Mr. Choi will continue their activities as the first NVIDIA Student Ambassadors from Okayama University. Their future achievements are highly anticipated.
Comments from Mr. Akada and Mr. Choi
Mr. AKADA Takuma:
“This workshop provided a valuable opportunity to engage broadly with students and faculty members from various fields. Some students approached themes close to my specialization from perspectives different from my own, and it was inspiring to have such active discussions. I also learned about the latest use cases of GPUs, which are gaining increasing attention, and was stimulated by their applications across multiple disciplines. I hope to make full use of the knowledge and experiences I gained here in my future studies and research.”
Mr. CHOI Yu Cheol:
“I am truly honored to have participated in this workshop. As a candidate for the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program, I gained practical experience in building AI models using GPUs and accelerating data preprocessing. Presenting my results in front of students and industry professionals further strengthened my motivation for research. I hope to continue deepening my learning through this program and apply the knowledge I gain to my research and to addressing social challenges.”
