October 23, 2025

On September 9, 2025, a delegation from Okayama University Hospital, led by Associate Professor Daisuke Uchida of the Center for Advanced Medical Research and Development, visited the Faculty of Medicine at Thammasat University in Thailand. The purpose of the visit was to exchange ideas and explore possibilities for international collaboration in the research and development of medical devices.

Founded in 1934, Thammasat University is one of Thailand’s leading national universities. Its Faculty of Medicine actively engages in international research and educational activities. During the visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Thipaporn Tharavanij, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, and other faculty members, who introduced the university’s research and technological innovation initiatives.

Okayama University presented its activities under the BIZEN program and shared its efforts in medical device development. Participating companies also introduced advanced medical technologies, including AI-based diagnostic support systems, leading to active discussions on potential technical cooperation. The exchange of commemorative gifts and group photos further strengthened the friendship and trust between the two institutions.

This visit was made possible through the support of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) under the FY2024 program “Project to Strengthen Industrial Promotion Bases for the Creation of Excellent Medical Devices,” and with the cooperation of OLBA HEALTHCARE HOLDINGS, Inc. and THAI OLBA Healthcare Co., Ltd.

Looking ahead, the delegation expects to explore specific themes for joint research and technical cooperation, expand academic exchange programs, and deepen collaboration in medical device development and digital health.
