October 23, 2025

On October 17, President NASU Yasutomo, Executive Director for Academic Affairs and Senior Vice President SUGA Seiji, and ten faculty and staff members from Okayama University visited the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka and held a discussion meeting with Consul General XUE Jian, Education Section Chief and Consul YANG Guang, and Vice Consul LI Ruobing.
The meeting was held in response to an invitation from the Consulate-General to express appreciation for Okayama University’s continued cooperation in educational and cultural exchange activities.

During the discussion, President Nasu expressed his gratitude for the university’s participation in the Japan–China Friendship Student Delegation to China, and introduced an upcoming public lecture titled “Guo Moruo and Okayama: Foundations of Japan–China Friendship,” to be held on November 4 at the university’s Shikata Campus. Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including exchange activities between Okayama University and Chinese universities, as well as the activities of international alumni associations.
Representing the delegation, President Nasu conveyed the message “Those who drink the water should never forget those who dug the well” (Chinese proverb: 飲水不忘挖井人), expressing his appreciation for the friendship between the two sides and his hopes for further collaboration. The meeting continued in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.

Consul General Xue later shared on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), that both sides had agreed to further strengthen cooperation to enhance both the quality and quantity of exchanges among students and faculty, thereby deepening people-to-people friendship between Japan and China. His post also featured photos showing the warm and engaging atmosphere of the meeting.

Many of Okayama University’s international students come from China, and this visit is expected to further strengthen partnerships with universities and institutions throughout the country. Going forward, Okayama University will continue to engage in exchanges and dialogues with ambassadors, consuls general, and other diplomatic representatives from around the word, leveraging these interactions to promote the internationalization of its education and research activities.
