Welcoming New Members: Shikata Learning Community Holds Welcome Party

June 03, 2026

Shikata Learning Community (Shikata LC) held a welcome party on May 16 to welcome new members and promote interaction among community members. A total of 61 participants attended the event, creating a vibrant international atmosphere with attendees from Japan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ghana, Tanzania, China, Poland, Canada, and other countries.

At the beginning of the event, all participants introduced themselves and shared their cultural backgrounds and experiences, helping participants get to know one another and deepen their interaction.

During the potluck party, participants enjoyed conversations while sharing dishes they had brought from home, providing an opportunity to experience various cultures and traditions through food. In addition, a live performance by the band “Las Chicas” energized the venue, with many participants singing and dancing to lively Latin American music.

The event also featured a fun moment when a participant from Poland introduced the “Macarena Dance,” and attendees from different countries joined together in dancing, further expanding interaction among participants.

Afterward, participants continued to deepen friendships through karaoke, group games, and free conversation, creating many new connections.

Shikata LC will continue organizing events where students, researchers, and local community members can casually interact, further promoting international interaction and community building.
