On June 30, the 2026 Misasa International Student Internship Program (MISIP) was launched at the Institute for Planetary Materials, Okayama University. The program will run until August 6. On the first day, an orientation session, a welcome lunch, and a laboratory tour were held. During the lab tour, participants were divided into two groups and visited facilities at the institute. Students commented positively on the program, highlighting the high quality of the research facilities and experimental equipment, the safe and comfortable environment surrounded by beautiful nature, the strong support provided by faculty members, and their expectations for the research projects.
MISIP aims to foster the next generation of young researchers and build an international research network. Since its establishment in 2005, the program has produced more than approximately 180 internship alumni. This year, 12 students selected from more than 100 applicants are participating from eight countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, Namibia, Nepal, Poland, and Thailand. They are divided into five research projects proposed by the institute’s faculty members and are currently engaged in research activities.
