On September 10, Professor Sakiko Fukuda-Parr, President of the International Association for Feminist Economics( IAFFE) and Professor Emerita at The New School in the United States, and IAFFE staff member Mayra Coelho Gonçalves visited Okayama University and paid a courtesy visit to President Yasutomo Nasu. Professor Yumiko Yamamoto of the Discovery Program for Global Learners, a member of IAFFE and the Japan Association for Feminist Economics(JAFFE), also attended.
Professor Fukuda-Parr and Ms. Gonçalves visited the University as part of their preparations for the 35th IAFFE Annual Conference co-organized with JAFFE next year, including visits to the conference venues. During the courtesy visit, they expressed their appreciation for Okayama University’s support for the conference and thanked the University for its cooperation in preparing for the first IAFFE Annual Conference to be held in Japan. They also exchanged views on IAFFE’s and JAFFE’s activities, the Annual Conference, and preparations for hosting the conference at Okayama University.
President Nasu welcomed Professor Fukuda-Parr and Ms. Gonçalves and expressed his hope that the conference, the first IAFFE Annual Conference to be held in Japan, would promote international academic exchange in feminist economics and provide opportunities for researchers and students from Japan and abroad to engage with one another.
The 35th IAFFE Annual Conference will be held at Okayama University’s Tsushima Campus from July 2 to 4, 2027.
