From September 21 to 23, Vice President Mitsuhiro Okayasu (International Education and Endowment Strategy) and Professor Hiroki Fujii of the Faculty of Education visited National Taipei University in Taiwan. They gave invited lectures and exchanged views on future international collaboration between the two universities.
At the University Social Responsibility (USR) Workshop held on September 21, they gave lectures on the following topics. More than 150 faculty members, staff, and students from the University System of Taipei attended the workshop. The University System of Taipei is a university consortium comprising four universities in the Taipei metropolitan area: National Taipei University, Taipei Medical University, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Taiwan Ocean University. The lectures generated many questions from the audience, demonstrating the high level of interest in both topics.

The Yuan Shan Lecture is an international lecture program hosted by National Taipei University to promote academic exchange and dialogue with researchers, experts, and industry leaders from around the world. It serves as a platform for sharing insights on important issues facing contemporary society and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across fields. This year’s lecture attracted more than twice the usual number of participants and drew considerable attention.
On the final day, Vice President Okayasu exchanged views with representatives of National Taipei University, including Assistant Professor Ying-Chen Lin, on strengthening future collaboration, including research exchanges among faculty members, student exchanges, and study-abroad opportunities. Following the visit, the two universities agreed to proceed with concrete discussions toward developing international exchange programs and eventually establishing a formal agreement between the universities.
The University System of Taipei and the Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan, comprising Chiba University, Niigata University, Kanazawa University, Okayama University, Nagasaki University, and Kumamoto University, have continued academic exchanges since signing an international exchange agreement in June 2020. The two consortia have held joint symposia annually to promote research exchanges and strengthen their networks, with a primary focus on exchanges among faculty members. The invited lectures during this visit were also realized through this collaboration between the two alliances.
Going forward, the two consortia will further deepen their exchanges while promoting individual partnerships among their member universities, with the aim of expanding exchange and collaboration through both frameworks.
