Visit of faculty and staff of University of Guam

On 25th September, Dr. Mohammad H. Golabi, Associate Professor of Soil & Environmental Sciences, College of Natural & Applied Sciences, Ms. Ann Rasmussen, Sustainability Coordinator, Office of the President from University of Guam and Mr. Robert A Perron, Chairman of Air and Land Subcommittee, Guam Environmental Protection Agency visited President of our university, Dr. Kyozo Chiba.

Okayama University is promoting environmental education programs and research exchanges with Palau and other countries in Oceania region about solid waste management in the context of environmental issue. These programs and projects are organized mainly by Solid Waste Management Research Center of our university.
As part of this movement, Okayama University has concluded agreement with University of Guam in February 2009.

The purpose of their visit was to have some discussion about education and research activities as well as to undertake training about solid waste management in Japan as a part of the UNESCO Chair Program. And President Chiba expressed his expectation for expanding collaborative research activities and student exchanges with University of Guam.

We plan to invite President of University of Guam to our campus on 22nd October for the 60th Anniversary Ceremony of our university and for Asia Oceania International Symposia which will be held as a part of its memorial events.

We take this opportunity to further promote exchanges including student exchange with University of Guam.
