May 22, 2012

On April 23rd, the Okayama University International Students Alumni Association held a Shanghai Branch Foundation party in Shanghai, China. Many graduates from all over China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Jilin, attended the party, and Vice President Masaru Araki, Director of the International Students Alumni Association Zhang Hong, and other university staff were invited as guests. The event was a great success with more than 50 attendees.

At the party, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Overseas Chinese Affairs Office vice Minister Jianguo Cai delivered a congratulatory message, saying “Okayama University is an honorable university proven by its academic culture of wisdom. My heart is too full of words when I look back at the exchanges and joint researches we’ve conducted.” Director of the Shanghai Alumni Association, Wei You Yuan, also greeted the attendees, saying “Our alma mater, Okayama University, made a great contribution to nurturing students, including international students. Overcoming the borders of language and culture, we were provided careful guidance in learning not only expert knowledge but also Japanese culture and the minds of Japanese. With “Tekimizu no On” (A drop of water shall be returned with a burst of spring) in mind, we wish to contribute to our alma mater’s sustained development and years of friendship between China and Japan.”

The Association plans to bring alumni together through activities in hopes of “contributing to the development of the alma mater, Okayama University.”
