IPSR Opens “Kurashiki Guesthouse”

August 07, 2012

The Okayama University Institute of Plant Science and Resources opened its Kurashiki Guesthouse on July 26. The guesthouse will fill a need for accommodation and conference facilities for the many researchers and faculty staff from outside the university who come to the IPSR to share its facilities, participate in joint research and attend meetings.
Built of steel-reinforced concrete, the two-storey guesthouse contains ten single and two twin rooms, each equipped with its own bath and toilet. Some are also equipped with kitchenettes, but there is a large communal kitchen area for guests’ use as well. Meeting rooms are on the first floor. The maximum stay at the Kurashiki Guesthouse is a week, and the facility is also available to outside researchers not participating in joint research at IPSR as long as they are here at the introduction of IPSR faculty.
A ceremony was held to mark the opening of the guesthouse. Following an address by IPSR Director Yoko Yamamoto, the audience heard congratulatory speeches from Pres. Kiyoshi Morita, Kurashiki City Mayor Kaori Ito, and Kenichiro Ohara, director of the Ohara Shonokai, the founding organization of the IPSR, which was once known as the Ohara Institute for Agricultural Research. The ceremonial ribbon was then cut and the researchers and dignitaries in attendance took a tour of the new facility.

Details on how to make use of the Kurashiki Guesthouse can be found at the IPSR website.
