Science Editor Lecture Meeting Held

November 08, 2012

Dr. L.Bryan Ray, who has long served as one of the senior editors of the globally influential US magazine Science, on October 30 gave a lecture on "How to publish in Science" in the 50th Anniversary Hall. This lecture was held by the URA office of the Strategic Office for Education and Research.

Dr. Ray explained the goals Science has and the functions of an editor to 130 students and researchers from inside and outside the university. His speech was based on his plentiful experience to show the process whereby submitted papers go through careful reading before finally being published in the magazine, and the reasons why some papers fail to meet its standards. In particular he mentioned examples of how good papers can be made through communication between the writer and the editor, giving the advice that writers should actively seek to maintain contact with the editor.

A volley of questions followed the lecture, with which Dr. Ray actively engaged in answering.
