Since 2007 the Collaborative Research Center of Okayama University for Infectious Diseases in India has been in place inside NICED, with Japanese researchers stationed there working together with Indian researchers. Last December a party including Dr. Yamamoto and Doctor URA Norito Sato went to India to visit the center, NICED and the local area.
The party firstly paid a courtesy call on Dr. Yamamoto and Dr. Sato, consulting over how Okayama University and NICED will cooperate on education and research. Next they talked informally with Dr. Moriyama. After receiving a description of the features of the university's graduate schools and faculties, they discussed future cooperative research.
Next they gave a lecture at Okayama University of Science High School to students selected under the "Super Science High School" (SSH) Ministry of Education project for research development focusing on mathematics and science, introducing research activities at NICED as well as everyday topics such as Indian culture and customs. Ties between India and Japan were strengthened through this visit.
