On the 5th of February, Korea Polytechnic University (KPU) President Jun-Yeong Choi, Seong Ho Noh (Dean of Graduate School of Knowledge-Based Technology & Energy of KPU) and Professor Sang-Chul Park (also professor of this graduate School) visited our University President Dr. Kyozo Chiba.

The aim of the meeting was to conclude an exchange agreement between Okayama University Graduate School of Environmental Science and KPU Graduate School of Knowledge-Based Technology & Energy.

Korea Polytechnic University was established in March 1998 by the South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy in order to strengthen education in the field of industrial technology.

It is well known for providing a rich education through both classroom learning and practical hands on training due to industry-academic-government collaboration.

Furthermore, Professor Sang-Chul Park had worked as an associate professor in Faculty of Environmental Science and Technology in Okayama University from 2003 to 2005, and has been giving special lectures to undergraduate and graduate students, even after returning to Korea.

The Graduate School of Environmental Science has been carring out a project called “Human Resources Development for Environmental Rehabilitation in Asia”(which was classified as “Good Practice”, as well as supported and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan).

To get this program underway, lecturers from KPU will be invited to give special lectures and seminars to graduate students. Moreover, internship programs for Okayama University students will be held in Korea with the help from KPU.

Both presidents showed great interest in extending the exchange agreement to the whole university rather than just the two graduate schools.
