Professor Wirth (Cardiff University in England) active in the field of organic chemistry gave a lecture Future Session

July 07, 2014

In order to deepen international joint research in the field of organic chemistry, our university invited Professor Thomas Wirth from Cardiff University in England on June 24th and held the “15th Future Session” in Bldg. No. 1 of our university’s engineering department.

Professor Wirth who is active in the field of organic chemistry is the world’s number-one person to come up with a hypervalent iodine chemistry-based groundbreaking organic synthesis method and flow chemistry that involves conducting organic synthesis with the continuous pouring in of solution. He is also a foreigner who is very knowledgeable about Japan. This time, taking the opportunity of Professor Wirth visiting Japan to participate in the “4th International Conference on Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry (ICHIC2014)” held in Narita City of Chiba Prefecture, we set up an invitation lecture at our university. The session involved a presentation of Professor Wirth’s wide-ranging research. Providing a topic regarding the most recent findings related to synthetic organic chemistry, Professor Wirth conducted an active discussion with our university’s approximately 70 teaching staff and students.
