Misasa International Student Intern Program 2015 Held: Japanese and Overseas Students Participate in Cutting-Edge Research

August 20, 2015

The program has been implemented each year since 2005 for Japanese and overseas third or fourth year undergraduates and masters’ program students for the purpose of promoting international research and education. This year, 12 student interns from the USA, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Taiwan and Japan were selected from among 86 applicants from 27 countries.

Each of the student interns participated in cutting-edge research projects for six weeks under the guidance of faculty staff and research groups. They participated in actual research activities such as the comprehensive analysis of meteorites and the determination physical properties of materials based on experiments. On the final day of the program, a seminar that gave each of the student interns an opportunity to present the outcomes of their research was conducted. A farewell party, at which the Director of the Institute, Professor Eizo Nakamura, presented each of the student interns with completion certificates, was also held later the same day.

It is hoped that this program will not only give the participants experience in advanced experimental and analytical technology, but will also help the student interns develop a passion for cutting-edge research.
