Guests from Kenya Pay a Courtesy Call to President Morita

From October 8 to 10, a delegation consisting of six officials from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya, including the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Losenge, visited Okayama University.

The delegation held discussions with President Kiyoshi Morita and other officials with a view to promoting further exchanges between the two universities, and toured the Division of Instrumental Analysis at the Advanced Science Research Center and the Okayama University Faculty of Agriculture. On October 9, the delegation participated in a joint seminar titled “Kenya Day,” organized by the Faculty of Agriculture. From the two universities, 11 lectures were given and 31 poster presentations exhibited, and a total of around 100 participants engaged in discussions with the delegation. A large number of students and faculty members attended the welcoming reception, thereby further deepening the exchanges. On October 10, the delegation visited Kurasihki City, touring the Institute of Plant Science and Resources of Okayama University, after which a wrap-up meeting was held. The delegation was visiting Japan under a project organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

Prof. Losenge Turoop, stated, “We are deeply grateful for the assistance and cooperation given to us by Okayama University thus far, and in the future we would like to push forward with further exchanges and cooperation between our two universities, including with the (JICA-supported) Pan-African University Project.”
