10th Anniversary event held for the “Okayama-Hue International Master’s Program in Sustainability of Rural and Environmental Systems”

On September 9th, an event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Okayama-Hue International Master’s Program in Sustainability of Rural and Environmental Systems (InMaPRES), was held at Hue University in Vietnam. Hue University honorary professorship titles were presented and a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement was held. Okayama University President Kiyoshi Morita, Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science Dean Hiroshi Kanzaki and other distinguished guests attended the 10th anniversary commemorative event held in Vietnam.
   
President Morita and Prof. Doo-chul Kim of the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science were presented with honorary professorship titles from Hue University. President Morita was recognized for his contribution in fostering international exchange between Okayama University and Hue University through his leadership as University President. Prof. Kim was recognized for his contribution as the first coordinator of said course, creating its curriculum and seeking cooperation from faculty. At the signing ceremony, with both universities in agreement to extend the 2nd Stage (5 terms) of said course, President Morita and Hue University President Nguyen Van Toan signed the cooperation agreement.
   
An entrance ceremony for the 10th course students was also held on the same day, where officials from both universities, course alumni, and current 9th course students studying at Hue University attended. President Mortia delivered words of congratulations and encouragement to new students, in addition to expressing gratitude to officials from the universities who are involved in the course. President Toan spoke about the exceptional graduates the InMaPRES course is producing and also about the success of educational cooperation between the universities.

Okayama-Hue International Master’s Program in Sustainability of Rural and Environmental Systems
   
This cooperative Master’s Program was established in 2007 by Okayama University and Hue University (Vietnam), with the goal of producing exceptional graduates who are capable of becoming leaders in agricultural and environmental fields in Vietnam. First-year students take classes at Hue University, with specialized agricultural and environmental classes as well as a six-month Japanese language training provided by the College of Foreign Languages instructors, then transfer to Okayama University as a second-year graduate student to complete their Master’s degree. A number of exceptional international students have gone through this course.
