Consul General Jean-Matthieu Bonnel from the Consulate General of France in Kyoto visits Okayama University

On February 2, newly appointed Consul General Jean-Matthieu Bonnel from the Consulate General of France in Kyoto visited Okayama University.

Consul General Bonnel exchanged views with Executive Director/Vice President Masaru Araki (Social Responsibility and International Affairs) and others in regards to current exchange between Okayama University and France and the possibility of expanding the exchange further between Japan and France in the future. Vice-Executive Director and Senior Research Administrator (URA) Bernard Chenevier explained mainly about unique research being conducted at Okayama University and current exchange taking place between the university and France. French students currently attending Okayama University also shared what their study abroad experience has been like.

Currently, there are eight schools in France that Okayama University has signed partnership agreements with. There is active student and research exchange taking place mainly through the European Union’s exchange program called Erasmus Mundus BEAM Program and EASED Program, and also programs developed by Okayama University called the Exchange Program Okayama (EPOK) and Global Science Campus in Okayama.

Study in France Promotion Tours (Campus France) has also continuously held at Okayama University by the French national agency for international student services from 2015. More exchange between Okayama University and France is expected in the future.
