Taekwondo Club Runners-up in the All-Japan Championships; Runner-up and Rookie Award in Individual Competition

December 19, 2017

On November 25, Okayama University Taekwondo Club took part in the 28th All-Japan Full Contact Taekwondo Championships (organized by the Japan Taekwondo Association) held at the Korakuen Hall (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo), finishing as runners-up in the team competition. Entering the competition in the B-class Kickboxing category, Karin Awata (third year, Faculty of Law) finished in second place, also gaining the Rookie Award.

The Taekwondo Club, one of seven teams fighting in the team competition, took second place, as they also did last year. The captain, Keishiro Mori (third year, Faculty of Environmental Science and Technology), looked back on the championships, saying, “In the past, we felt very frustrated by finishing bottom in the qualifying heats. These results are the reward for the team of three fighters finding the time to practice despite busy study schedules. I think we did the right thing by aiming high and never giving up.”
