Titles of “Project Professor” and “Special Ambassador” conferred upon two persons who supported our university’s activities in Myanmar

On August 17, President Hirofumi Makino of Okayama University conferred a title of “Project Professor” upon Rector Zaw Wai Soe of University of Medicine 1, Yangon, who had offered generous cooperation to our university’s activities in Myanmar; and a title of “Special Ambassador” upon Chairman Than Sein of the People’s Health Foundation (PHF) in Myanmar.

Rector Zaw Wai Soe of University of Medicine 1, Yangon, offered his understanding and cooperation in collaboration with many development programs for students and faculty members, including the Project for Enhancement of Medical Education in Myanmar, one of the JICA projects. PHF Chairman Than Sein is a former director of the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for South-East Asia, and had played a pivotal role in health policy and related matters for a long time. His contribution to our university’s efforts for development of medical human resources in Myanmar was highly significant.

In the award ceremony held on this day in Myanmar, President Hirofumi Makino expressed his appreciation for their respective cooperation with various activities that our university had conducted as part of its education and research in Myanmar, saying “I look forward to the continued establishment of our further partnerships.”
