2020 Online University Festival Held

November 06, 2020

Okayama University held the "2020 Online University Festival" from October 31st to November 1st, showcasing student performances and creative work, as well as recorded sessions showing club activities of various student groups on a special webpage.

While prioritizing measures to prevent the spread of infection of the novel coronavirus made it difficult for the festival to be held on campus as usual, the organizing committee in charge of the Tsushima Campus Festival stated that, “We want a lot of people to be able to see the hard work that Okadai students have been putting into their club activities, and for everyone to have an enjoyable time,” and, “We want to create an opportunity for student groups to show off their activity and creativity, despite not being able to hold the school festival as usual.” Although students only had a short time to prepare for the online event, about 50 groups participated in Okayama University’s first-ever online festival.

The task of creating a special webpage to host the online event was taken up by Okayama University Computer Research Club, while Okayama University Broadcast Culture Club recorded messages by the University President and University Festival Committee Chair. The webpage was designed to be easily accessible from a personal computer or smartphone, and in our online feedback form many participants noted that the homepage was easy to navigate.

Other positive feedback included comments such as, “Even though I was not able to attend the event in person, thanks to the online event it was easy to see the club activities of many different student groups, which I found enjoyable,” and, “I really appreciated all of the hard work that went into making the online festival.” As a result of holding the online festival, people both in- and outside of Okayama prefecture were able to enjoy the event.
