Online Seminar on Sustainable Material Chemistry Was Held With 7 Universities in 4 Countries

On January 12-13, Faculty of Engineering held online seminar on the theme, “SDGs Seminar 2021 Winter”. 52 participants from 7 Universities in 4 countries.

Dean of Faculty of Engineering ABE Masanobu delivered an address before opening the seminar. Then, Project Professor OSAKA Akiyoshi of Okayama University and Professor TSURU Kanji of Fukuoka Dental College gave lectures on material chemistry. 
Participants from Zhejiang University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Xiamen University, Universiti Putra, Universiti Malaya and National University of Singapore gave their presentation. Participants engaged in discussions related to joint research.

Moreover, we introduced “Formula project” which is specific project of Faculty of Engineering and “Organic chemical experiments” which performed by Professor MIZOGUCHI Haruki and Mr. ABE Takeru (4th year student) at Professor SAKAKURA Akira’s laboratory by using the video with subtitles. (The video was produced by i PLANNING KOHWA Co., Ltd, YOSHIYUKI Fumiki and photographed by SHIMIZU Takeo.) We shared our learning online.

All Universities have been participated the “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (Sakura Science Plan)” of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) from 2014 to 2018. We continue to engage in international exchange through joint research and the acceptance of international students.

This seminar was also opened to teachers of Okayama Ichinomiya Senior High School as a reference for the new international High School-University collaboration project in Okayama Prefecture to be implemented in the future.

One of the participants, Professor Xiao Fan of Zhejiang University of Technology who obtained doctorate from Okayama University and Vice-Director of East China Branch of Okayama University International Alumni Association said, “I am happy to be able to participate in the seminar with my students across the generations. I hope to continue our good relationship in the future.”

This seminar was organized by Ms. NAKAMURA Yuri, Technical Research Officer of Faculty of Engineering and SDGs Ambassador at Okayama University, and it was implemented as part of the “Sakura Science Plan Follow-up Online program” of JST.

Faculty of Engineering will continue to promotes sustainable international exchange activities through international online seminar.
