University of Ottawa Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit to President NASU

On May 28, a delegation from the University of Ottawa, led by Vice-President, Research and Innovation Julie St-Pierre, paid a courtesy visit to Okayama University President NASU Yasutomo.

Representing Okayama University were Executive Director for Hospital and Medical Service and Director of Okayama University Hospital MAEDA Yoshinobu, Vice President SUZUKI Takayoshi (International Affairs and Alumni Relations), Vice President OKAYASU Mitsuhiro (International Education and Endowment Strategy), Dean NARUSE Keiji of the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dean WADA Jun of the Medical School, Professor MASUYAMA Hisashi (Obstetrics and Gynecology), and Assistant Professor OKAMOTO Kazuhiro (Obstetrics and Gynecology).

Okayama University and the University of Ottawa have built a strong partnership over many years in the fields of research and education related to women’s health. This collaborative relationship has developed through close academic ties between Professor Masuyama and Professor Benjamin K. Tsang of the University of Ottawa, a member of the visiting delegation.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the history of exchanges between the two universities and shared updates on recent activities in a warm and friendly atmosphere. They also engaged in productive discussions on opportunities for future collaboration.

President Nasu remarked, “This visit reaffirmed that Okayama University and the University of Ottawa share many characteristics as research-intensive universities. Building on the strong partnership we have cultivated; I hope to expand our collaboration beyond women’s health into a wide range of academic fields.”

During their two-day stay at Okayama University, the delegation also visited the Shikata Campus, where they toured Okayama University Hospital and several medical research laboratories.
The visit is expected to further strengthen academic exchange and institutional collaboration between Okayama University and the University of Ottawa.
