Degree Policy of School of Agriculture

Department of Agricultural Sciences

The Diploma Policy of Okayama University Faculty of Agriculture sets the following goals for its students to attain by the time they graduate. We want them to develop the intellect and knowledge to pass on to future generations.

Education rich in humanity【General Education】

Our students will take an interest in diverse issues concerning the survival of humans, that include sustainable biological production and environmental preservation, as well as acquire powers of logical thinking, judgment, and creativity, which will enable them to resolve issues responsibly. Moreover, we want them to be guided by a true sense of humanity and ethics.

Specialization with a purpose【Expertise】

Our students will acquire the discipline-based agricultural knowledge and skills from agrochemical bioscience, plant science, animal science and environmental ecology, and will be able to apply them appropriately.

Effective information processing【Ability to Use Information】

Our students will not only accumulate agricultural science knowledge and experience and be able to think by themselves of beneficial action for the survival and welfare of various forms of life, including people, but also will be capable of disseminating the information effectively.

Ability to become a leader in contemporary society【Ability to Act】

Our students will have the skills to enable them to communicate from the local to the international community and will be able to contribute to the survival and welfare of all human beings, across all the boundaries of region, society, ethnicity, race and nationality.

Lifelong pursuit of self-realization【Ability to Achieve Self-realization】

Through their regular course of study as well as extra-curricular activities such as sports, the arts and culture, students will be able to pursue self-development. In this way, students will continue to have an interest in study throughout their lifetime, being able to contribute to agricultural progress and development.
