The School of Economics seeks students equipped with the following abilities:
Profile of Prospective Students
The School of Economics seeks individuals who can apply knowledge built by predecessors to confront economic and social issues, explore and connect these issues with their own ideas, and clearly communicate their challenges and concepts to others. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in economics and societal matters, adequate language skills, and a genuine interest in learning, while leveraging their thinking skills.

Screening Policy
To attract a wide range of diverse individuals who align with the “Profile of Prospective Students” sought by the School of Economics, the school offers multiple entrance exams and application schedules, including the General Entrance Examination, School Recommendation-Based Entrance Examination, and International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Examination.
Screening Method
Applicants will be evaluated through one or a combination of methods, including academic tests, an interview, and a review of submitted documents, to assess their academic ability and aptitude for study at the School of Economics.
Screening Process
・General Entrance Examination
Applicants will be examined on their broad, fundamental academic abilities at the high school graduation level through the Common Test for University Admissions, covering six to seven subject areas with a total of eight subjects. In the University-specific Subject Area Admission Test, two subjects from Japanese, Mathematics, or Foreign Languages (English) will be tested to evaluate the applicants' understanding and ability to apply knowledge in subjects that form the foundation for studying in the School of Economics.
・School Recommendation-Based Entrance Examination I (not requiring the Common Test for University Admissions)
The essay will be used to evaluate the knowledge, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills necessary for studying in the School of Economics. Additionally, the school report, recommendation letters, statement of purpose, and interview (including academic questions) will be used to comprehensively evaluate the applicant's knowledge, interest, critical thinking, communication skills, motivation for study, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues aimed at achieving a better society.
・School Recommendation-Based Entrance Examination Ⅱ (requiring the Common Test for University Admissions) Admissions Process A
Applicants will be examined on their broad, fundamental academic abilities at the high school graduation level through the Common Test for University Admissions, covering three subject areas with three subjects. Additionally, the school report, recommendation letters, statement of purpose, and interview (including academic questions) will be used to comprehensively evaluate the applicant's knowledge, interest, critical thinking, expression and communication skills, motivation for study, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues aimed at achieving a better society.
・School Recommendation-Based Entrance Examination Ⅱ (requiring the Common Test for University Admissions) Admissions Process B
Applicants will be examined on their broad, fundamental academic abilities at the high school graduation level through the Common Test for University Admissions, covering five to six subject areas with a total of seven subjects. Additionally, the school report, recommendation letters, statement of purpose, and interview (including academic questions) will be used to comprehensively evaluate the applicant's knowledge, interest, critical thinking, expression and communication skills, motivation for study, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues aimed at achieving a better society.
・Entrance Examination for Adults
The essay will be used to evaluate the knowledge, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills necessary for studying in the School of Economics. Additionally, the statement of purpose and other document screening, as well as the interview (including academic questions), will be used to comprehensively evaluate the applicant's knowledge, interest, critical thinking, communication skills, motivation for study, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues.
・Entrance Examination for Privately Financed International Students
Applicants are required to submit scores from the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) and either the TOEFL or TOEIC to evaluate their basic academic abilities, as well as their Japanese and English proficiency necessary for studies after entering the university. Additionally, an essay will be used to assess the knowledge, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills required for studying in the School of Economics. Furthermore, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted based on the application document and interview (including academic questions) to assess the applicant's knowledge, interest, critical thinking, communication skills, motivation to learn, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues aimed at achieving a better society.
・International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Examination
Applicants’ transcript of grades, personal statements, evaluation reports, and interview (including academic questions) will be used to comprehensively evaluate their knowledge, interest, critical thinking, expression and communication skills, motivation for study, and suitability in addressing economic and social issues aimed at achieving a better society.
Prior to Enrollment
Regardless of the screening method, applicants must demonstrate basic academic abilities at the high school graduation level in Japanese, Mathematics, and Foreign Languages for studies after entering the university.
