Cardiac Care Unit

Who are we?

The Cardiac Care Unit is a medical unit that provides multidisciplinary perioperative treatment for severe cardiac diseases that are received from all over Japan. World-class intensive care is provided through the cooperation of many departments, including cardiovascular surgery, anesthesiology, pediatrics, and cardiology. After the opening of the Center for Adult Congenital Heart Disease, the number of surgical treatment of congenital heart disease is also increasing in the proportion of adult patients.

Our Mission

First, we have one of the biggest teams for congenital heart surgery. This experience has been transferred to adult cardiac surgery and vascular surgery, and the entire team is constantly energized by flexible ideas that do not rely on existing treatment methods. Second, we became the designated hospital for aortic emergencies in Okayama Prefecture in 2021, and are now able to accept admissions and surgeries for acute aortic diseases 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, we have established the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center, and we accept patients from all over the country as well as from nearby areas. We have 18 ICU/CCU beds and 6 PICU beds for severely ill patients and patients in the immediate postoperative period, and two floors of general wards for preoperative and pre-discharge patients. We are committed to team medicine and provide medical care as one team.
