Center for Innovative Clinical Medicine

What is the Center for Innovative Clinical Medicine?

The Center for Innovative Clinical Medicine was launched in January 2010 as the central facilities to promote clinical and translational research strategically within the hospital. Then Okayama University Hospital was adopted as the implementer at one of the Translational Research Centers(TRCs)for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2014, followed by certification as a Core Clinical Research Hospital by the related project of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) in March 2017. Furthermore, a renewed Translational Research Support Center was established through integrating parts of the Center for Innovative Clinical Medicine and the Organization for Research Strategy and Development under the leadership of the University president in 2021, and was finally certified as a " Center for Advancing Translational Research (CATR)" by the MEXT in December of the same year. Based on Okayama University Hospital's philosophy, which is "We offer highly advanced medical care in a caring manner, train and educate excellent medical professionals, and contribute to continuous health promotion in society and the community.", the Center for Innovative Clinical Medicine seamlessly and strategically promotes clinical research, investigator-initiated clinical trials, and industry-initiated clinical trials at the hospital.
